Kaapsehoop was one of the first gold mining towns that were established in 1882 in the old Transvaal. The gold diggers wanted to build a large “diggers” city but their dream was shuttered because when gold was discovered in Baberton, most of the diggers left Kaapsehoop and moved to Babreton.
